Meet the Board

 

Chairperson
Len George was appointed by the Walker County Commissioners’ Court in January 2006. Mr. George is a realtor at B&B Properties in Huntsville and is involved in numerous other local and national organizations, including membership on the Board of Independence Communities, Inc. and Montgomery Supported Housing, Inc.  He currently serves as the chair of the Program Committee. Mr. George previously served on the Tri-County Board from 1987 to 1992.
Vice Chairperson
David Walker was appointed to the Board in May 2006 by the Montgomery County Commissioners’ Court. Mr. Walker participates with many other organizations in Conroe, including the Rotary Club of Conroe and the First Baptist Church of Conroe Choir. He is also currently serving as the Montgomery County Attorney.
Secretary
Brad Browder was appointed to the Board in May 2007 by the Liberty County Commissioners’ Court. Mr. Browder has served with many other community organizations in the Cleveland area, including the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce, the Cleveland Rotary Club and the Bridgehaven Child Advocacy Center.

Cecil McKnight was appointed in 1994 by the Liberty County Commissioners’ Court. Mr. McKnight has been a strong supporter and advocate for community MHMR centers for many years in Liberty County.

Janet Qureshi is the Project Director for Congressman Kevin Brady. She is a nursing school graduate and a willing volunteer. Ms. Qureshi was appointed by the Montgomery County Commissioners’ Court in 1999.

Morris V. Johnson is a retired school principal. He was appointed to the Board in 2003 by the Walker County Commissioners’ Court. He currently serves as the chair of the Business Committee. Mr. Johnson is a respected member of numerous service organizations in his community and also serves on the Board of Independence Communities, Inc.

Sharon Walker is a retired Conroe Independent School District Administrator, serving most of her 38 years as Associate Principal of Oak Ridge High School. She was appointed to the Board in October of 2008 by the Montgomery County Commissioner’s Court. Mrs. Walker has been involved for many years with numerous organizations that help support individuals with mental illness and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Patti Atkins currently serves as the President General of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and works with the Liberty County Historical Commission, East Liberty County Historical Society, First United Methodist Church, and the Hull-Dasietta Mayhaw Festival. Mrs. Atkins has volunteered with the Special Olympics and the American Heart Association. She was appointed to the Board in March 2010 by the Liberty County Commissioners’ Court.

Tracy Sorensen is a practicing attorney at The Law Office of Tracy M. Sorensen.  She was appointed by the Walker County Commissioner’s Court in August 2011.  Mrs. Sorensen currently serves as an officer in the Walker County Bar Association and the Walker County Republican Women. She is a member of the Huntsville Downtown Business Alliance, the Huntsville Area Newcomers Club, is a lifetime member of the Walker County Fair Association, and is a child and family advocate, supporting numerous child and youth agencies and organizations throughout the area.
